Dark Athletics is not your high school. And we’re not like other gyms, either.
We don’t like drama, cliques or judgment.
High School for me was acceptable. It wasn’t an exceptional time of my life, but it wasn’t a disaster either. I was kind of like a Jock-nerd. I was Captain of the Football and Wrestling team, but I also played in 3 different bands. (Concert, Symphonic and Jazz.) I maintained decent grades and was able to have a pretty lazy Senior year since all of my credits were complete by the time I got there.
I always stayed in shape for obvious reasons. Lifting weights was important for my Sports endeavors and I was able to perform decently in wrestling, even though it wasn’t a crazy program in the City at the time and I had only done it for a year and a half.
I was always active and it helped that my brother, Frank and I would compete with one another. Unfortunately he usually beat me at everything which always bothered me, but older brothers should!
Years later, I founded Dark Athletics to share my love of fitness and active life with others.
We believe that exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you ate.
We believe that you have to find something you love—and celebrate success—before you’ll ever be motivated to work out or eat properly.
We believe in progress, not perfection.
We believe in coaching.
And we believe in making sure you’re here again tomorrow.
Have there been “gym jerks” along the way? Of course! But since I am the Owner, I can filter them out of Dark Athletics. Luckily we don’t have too many of the “we’re-better-than-everyone” crew so it has been easy!
That means Dark Athletics will never be the biggest gym in town, It means we’ll probably never be super competitive in the functional fitness competition circuit, but we’ll always be the best because of the people within our community.
If you want to get fit, have fun and forget about high school, come in and talk to us. We’re not salesmen, we’re Coaches.
