WHY AT HOME EXERCISE EQUIPMENT ISN’T THE ANSWER

At home exercise equipment is a great way to get into shape and stay fit, but it’s not nearly as effective as going to a gym. You may have heard of some of the many benefits of using home equipment, like saving money on expensive gym memberships and having more control over where you are able to exercise. However, there are also numerous reasons why at-home exercise equipment isn’t as effective as going to a gym. Here are some issues that come up when working out at home:

Boring

The problem with home exercise equipment is that it’s boring. You have to spend time working out and you don’t get any results in return. If you’re not careful, this can lead to a negative association with exercise overall–and then it will be even harder for you to stick with your routine.

You can try to follow an online program or listen to music to stay motivated, but the reality is without the accountability and the structured focus it is very difficult to stay on track and make progress.

Lack of focus

Another reason why at home exercise equipment doesn’t work is that it’s difficult to stay focused during your workout.

When you’re doing an exercise, it’s easy to get distracted by something else happening around you. For example, if someone knocks on your door while doing lunges or squats, it can be hard not to stop what you’re doing and answer their question instead of finishing up with those last few reps.

Or you might think that you’ll get swole and watch tv at the same time, but then realize there is a nice comfy couch right there to lay on. Instead of working out while watching Shark Tank, you take a nap instead or get lost in the Instagram Reel Rabbit hole. (happens to me all the time.)

Equipment doesn’t do what it’s meant to do

There are a few reasons why at home exercise equipment doesn’t work.

  • The wrong equipment: Some of it is not designed to fit your body type, fitness level or fitness goals.
  • The wrong budget: You may have bought something that was too expensive for what you needed and now you’re stuck with an expensive piece of equipment that sits in the corner collecting dust because it doesn’t do what it’s meant to do!
  • Or simply the product you bought requires knowledge that you don’t possess or it just simply not a good piece of equipment!

Lack of self discipline and motivation

It’s not always easy to find the drive to workout at home, alone with no one holding you accountable. Some people are great at it, but most of us need comraderie or we need guidance. There is nothing like in person training with a Coach. If you want to see results having a Coach with you is the most effective way to be successful.

I get it. Having a gym at home sounds so convenient. The thought of being able to do everything at home sounds convenient. Maybe you think it will save you money and you can do things on a budget, but the reality is often times we end up spending more money on budget solutions that don’t yield any results. Now we are left with expensive clothing racks that we really didn’t need in the first place.

I can’t tell you how many times I tried to do things on my own, tried to fix something on my own only to have to call the professional later on to actually fix the problem. Do yourself a favor. Save yourself time and money and call the professionals from the start.
