THE IRON CLASSIC 2023: A RECAP OF A FUN DAY

We just wrapped up an amazing powerlifting competition, the Iron Classic 2023, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. With 20 incredibly talented lifters from all over the county, the energy and excitement in the room were electric. We want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated and made this event a success.

For those who may not be familiar with powerlifting, it is a strength sport that involves three main lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. The Iron Classic 2023 showcased some great effort by all and we saw a lot of personal records being shattered! The atmosphere was filled with cheers, high-fives, and a sense of camaraderie that can only be found in the strength community.

This was an unsanctioned event and so we had a range of different weight classes for both men and women, and age groups. Each lifter had three attempts at each lift. With mostly newer athletes competing for the first time, everyone supported and encouraged each other every step of the way. It was a pleasure to have everyone get their first taste of competition in our space.

Marble Strength represented! We had 5 Athletes compete and 4 out of the 5 it was their first Powerlifting Competition.

Sara Glikman did exceptionally well! PR Squat 175 Bench 90 PR Deadlift 250!
Coach Steph Bock another first timer, absolutely crushed it! Squat 295 PR Bench 180 PR Deadlift 320!
Diana Knecht went 8 for 9 with a couple of PRs Squat 245 Bench 125 Deadlift 275!
Jan Glikman had a day. Squat 305 Bench 245 and Deadlift 425!
Last we had Ed Van Ness who is our veteran Powerlifter. Ed went 8 for 9 and smoked a couple of PRs!
Squat 370 Bench 220 Deadlift 425!

Amazing job all around!

We also want to give a special shoutout to our amazing team of volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event run smoothly. Without their dedication and hard work, the Iron Classic 2023 wouldn’t have been possible. (They know who they are! And we love them!)

As we look back on this incredible event, we can’t help but feel excited about the future of powerlifting for us and the potential for better competition to come. We want to thank everyone who participated in the Iron Classic 2023 and helped make it such a success. We can’t wait to see you all again at our next event!
