WHY WE USE MACRO COUNTING FOR NUTRITION

A lot of people when they come in to Marble Strength and we ask them about their nutrition will tell us, “I eat healthy.” To which I respond with, “OK, tell me about a typical day.” More often then not as they are telling about their diet you can already see the inconsistency and lack of plan. That’s where we come in.

We don’t always use Macro counting for our clients, but counting macros can be a great way to track your nutrition. Whether it be for weight loss or athletic performance, Utilizing some form of tracking system is key to getting results. Tracking Macros is a great way to start and see progress.

Easy to track

There’s no denying that macro counting is easy to track. It’s a simple system of checking how many grams of protein, carbs, and fat you’ve eaten each day.

If you’re still trying to lose weight, having a visual representation of your progress can help keep you motivated. Seeing how many pounds have fallen off your frame makes it easier to stay motivated and not give up when progress slows down or stalls out altogether.

It’s also helpful for people who are trying to figure out whether they’re eating enough food in general—especially if they’ve just started dieting and are feeling hungry all the time!

GIves a good picture for improvement

If you’re looking to lose weight and have never tracked, it can definitely be overwhelming. Macro counting can be a simple and yet effective way to get a big picture of what your current habits are and how we can make improvements.

For those who are just getting started on their journey, we recommend tracking on a fitness app such as myfitnesspal or cronometer for a week or so to get a picture of habits. Once you can see where you are consistent and where you aren’t you can make the adjustment and set a better plan moving forward.

Where should you start?

The first step to macro counting is calculating your own macros. This means you need to know how many calories you consume in a day, how many grams of protein, carbs and fat you eat each day and how many grams of each macronutrient you would like to consume every day. You can use the calculator below to help you determine this information:

Once you have the general idea of what you want to achieve and how to achieve then you can begin putting the plan into action.

We work with a lot of different types of people at Marble Strength. From Athletes, to doctors, nurses, teachers, anyone! They all have different goals and different reasons why they came to our gym. It is a great way to keep themselves accountable and motivated to get results. It’s easy, it’s effective, and it gives you all the information you need to make informed choices about what you eat.

Macro Counting isn’t the end all be all to get your nutrition on track, but it’s definitely a start. If you need more assistance and would like to see results faster, come talk to us about Nutrition! Our Coaches are excited to help you!
