‘CLEAN EATING’ MAY BE HOLDING YOU BACK

Clean eating has been a popular trend in the health and wellness industry for quite some time now. The basic principle of clean eating is to consume whole, unprocessed foods that are free from additives, preservatives, and other artificial ingredients. While clean eating may offer some health benefits, it is often touted as a necessary requirement for fat loss. However, the truth is that clean eating is not necessarily the key to weight loss.

First and foremost, it is important to understand that weight loss is primarily determined by the balance between the calories consumed and the calories burned. While the quality of the food we consume can have an impact on our overall health, it is not the only factor that affects weight loss. Simply put, you can still lose weight while consuming processed foods, as long as you are consuming fewer calories than you are burning.

Furthermore, the emphasis on “clean” eating can actually lead to a restrictive and obsessive relationship with food. Many people who follow a clean eating diet may feel guilty or ashamed if they consume something that is not deemed “clean.” This can lead to an unhealthy cycle of bingeing and restriction, which can ultimately have a negative impact on both physical and mental health.

It is also important to note that the term “clean eating” can be subjective and often lacks a clear definition. What one person considers clean may not be the same as what another person considers clean. This can lead to confusion and misinformation, as well as a sense of guilt or shame if someone consumes a food that is deemed “unclean” by someone else.

Let me be clear, you should eat a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods. Those foods should be mostly whole, unprocessed foods and finding the balance is what will lead to weight loss, as long as it is combined with regular exercise and a calorie deficit.

Focus on developing a healthy and sustainable relationship with food that supports overall health and well-being. Pair it with a proper fitness program and you will be good to go!
